Attorney General Basrief Arief said Asian Agri group had agreed to comply with the ruling that required them to pay Rp 2
ttorney General Basrief Arief said Asian Agri group had agreed to comply with the ruling that required them to pay Rp 2.5 trillion in fines for tax fraud. He said the conglomerate would initially pay Rp 719 billion and the rest would be settled in installments.
'The company has agreed to pay Rp 200 billion each month until October this year,' Basrief said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.
He said the company had also handed over the company's accounts to Bank Mandiri as a guarantee. Basrief acknowledged that the ruling did not rule out installment payments as a method. However, he went on, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) had put this into consideration due to the fate of more than 29,000 Asian Agri employees.
Asian Agri's general manager Freddy Wijaya, had separately said that the company had vowed to fully comply with the ruling.
'We will deploy all resources to pay the fines,' he said.
Asian Agri had been ordered to pay Rp 2.5 trillion in fines after the panel found undisputable evidences that pointed the involvement. Multiple evidence was provided by Vincentius Amin Sutanto, the company's former finance comptroller, who turned into justice collaborator after being found guilty of fraud.(dic)
