he Pakistan Embassy has celebrated Kashmir Solidarity Day as a tokenof solidarity with the Kashmiri people who are still struggling forself-determination. The event was held at the Azzahra University
Pakistan chargé d'affaires to Indonesia Syed Sajjad Haider said the Pakistanis were committed to showing the world that the Kashmiris were not alone in their fight.
Haider also cited the harmonious relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia. He added that Pakistan would welcome any Indonesian who was willing to study there.
Zahir Khan, chairman of the Kashmir Solidarity Forum, said the event, which falls every Feb 5, was tailored so that people around the world would remain aware of the dispute in Kashmir. He expected that all related parties would obey the UN resolution that mandated self-determination.
Kashmir has been the object of conflict between India and Pakistan since 1947 despite a UN resolution that they must end hostilities and prepare the people for a vote on their future. (idb)
