oekarwo and Saifullah Yusuf will be sworn in as governorand deputy governor for a second term on Wednesday despite allegations ofelection fraud. 'Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi will attend the inaugurationceremony. It will not be postponed,' East Java administration spokesman Arieftold The Jakarta Post on Monday.
As many as 3,000 police officers will be deployed to safeguard the ceremony, which will take place at the East Java Legislative Council (DPRD) office, followed by a party at the Grahadi building.
'We will install a metal detector and an X-ray scanner at the entrance of the Grahadi building as an additional security measure,' Arief added.
The runner-up in the East Java gubernatorial election, Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Herman Suryadi Sumawiredja, had previously asked Home Minister Gamawan to cancel the inauguration, following former Constitutional Court chief justice Akil Mochtar's remarks on the election dispute case that decided the election.
Akil said the Khofifah-Herman ticket was the true winner of the East Java gubernatorial election.
