n intelligence officer based at South Sulawesi Policeheadquarters, identified as Sec. Insp. Muhammad Daud, was shot dead byunidentified gunmen near his home on Jl. Palantikan 3, Pandan-Pandansubdistrict, in Gowa regency, South Sulawesi, early on Tuesday morning.
'Sec. Insp. Daud died instantly after being shot by a person or persons unknown,' South Sulawesi Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Endi Sutendi was quoted by Antara as saying on Tuesday.
The victim was hit twice in his chest and stomach while walking to predawn prayers not far from his house.
The victim's wife Wardaniah collapsed on being told of her husband's murder and was rushed to Bhayangkara Police Hospital for treatment.
