Children play beneath giant ondel-ondel effigies on Jl. Benyamin Sueb in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday. The fiber-made effigies weigh 1.5 tons each, are 9.5 meters tall and were unveiled on Jan. 17. They were created by renowned sculptor Hidayat over the course of four months in Bantul, Yogyakarta. They were ordered by the Kemayoran Compound Management Board and its private partners. (JP/P.J. Leo)
