Designer Musa Widyatmodjo started off in the local fashion industry after he was named a finalist in the 1990 Fashion Designers Competitions (LPM).
Musa then set up his own company, PT Musa Atelier, which houses three units: Musa Widyatmodjo, and exclusive for custom-made collection; M by Musa, a ready-to-wear line; and Musa Co. for a collection that features exclusive uniforms designs for companies.
The former chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Designers Association (APPMI) is known for pieces that combine the traditional and contemporary. Musa says he is not really into sophisticated gadgets and mostly uses his gadgets only to support his work and to communicate.
Nokia bar phone
'My friends often laugh at me because my cell phone is so old-fashioned. I don't remember the type of this phone but I guess this is a new Nokia bar phone. This is my main phone, whose number is widely known. I make calls and send SMS this way.'
WhatsApp Messenger
'I have so many WhatsApp groups, and the craziest one is my high school friends group. Sometimes that group is active 24 hours a day because we live in different countries. The different time zones mean some people reply to the messages late ' but we still respond.'
Photo album application
'I use this application on my Samsung for work. I have albums for my designs, which are made from East Nusa Tenggara traditional fabrics.
'I also have albums for my Musa Co. collection. It's like my portable portfolio, because when I meet clients, I can just easily show my designs.'
Fashion magazine applications
'There are so many fashion magazine applications now, allowing me to update the latest collections from famous foreign designers. I also like to read the fashion business section when I get caught in traffic jams.'
Dell notebook
'This is another important gadget for me because I use it quite often to write my thoughts and to make presentations when I teach.
'I teach at the Foreign Ministry, the National Intelligence Agency [BIN] and many companies about fashion etiquette, professional dress and other fashion lessons.'
