overnor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said state-owned traincompany PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) would connect Tanah Abang Station to BlokG in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
'KAI said they will build a bridge this year,' he said at City Hall on Monday as quoted by Tempo.co.
Many vendors had voiced concern over 'slow business' after being relocated to Blok G from their street locations last year.
Jokowi urged the vendors to be more creative in the way they attracted shoppers as the relocation was part of the city's efforts to improve infrastructure.
'We hold performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Blok G,' he said, adding that the building would soon have an escalator and a connecting bridge to the more crowded Blok A and Blok B.
'When the escalator is finished, don't ask to be returned to the building,' he warned.
