he Gorontalo Corruption Court sentenced on Monday theformer head of the Gorontalo Health Agency, Thamrin Podungge, 52, to five yearsin prison for corruption in the procurement of medical equipment that caused Rp1.9 billion in state losses.
Presiding judge Mustari also ordered the defendant to pay a Rp 477.5 million fine.
The verdict was lighter than the prosecutors' demand of eight years in prison and a fine of Rp 995.1 million.
Thamrin was arrested in a house in South Jakarta on Aug. 7, 2012.
