n official said PTAngkasa Pura 1, as Frans Kaisepo Airport in Biak, Papua had lost Rp 47 billion (US$3.98 million) in twoyears.
Airport general manager Mervin Butarbutar on Thursday said that the operator had lost Rp 22 billion in 2012, while a year later it lost Rp 25 billion due to a lack of flights to Biak.
"We are still surviving," Mervin said as quoted by Antara news agency.
He acknowledged that the temporary closure of Merpati Airlines had made the situation worse as it not only affected passenger numbers but also reduced other incomes like airport tax.
The statement was given during Angkasa Pura I's 50th anniversary. Various events were held to mark the event including a dance competition, blood donation and orphanage visits. (krb/dic)
