Transjakarta graft allegation reported to KPK

T

he Jakarta Residents Forum (Fakta), an NGO, reported theallegation on irregularities in the procurement of Transjakarta and feederbuses to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday.

Fakta chairman Azas Tigor Nainggolan said he had gathered evidence, which included bidding process documents and pictures of the sub-standard bus parts.

'€œThis morning at 10 a.m., we handed it [evidence] to the KPK,'€ he said as quoted by Kompas.com.

He said the forum feared the evidence and witnesses would disappear if the case was not immediately reported.

It was reported that around 15 newly shipped buses were allegedly not in a new condition and had damaged components including power-steering parts, engine mounts, machine pulleys and air filters. The buses'€™ water coolant tanks were leaking, windshields were broken, dashboard instruments were unscrewed and air conditioning units faulty.

Deputy Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama hailed the forum'€™s move as an entry point for the KPK to investigate the case. He said he would support the KPK'€™s probe.

'€œIt is good. It means that the forum functions well,'€ he said at City Hall, adding that the city administration was ready to help the KPK investigate the case.

Ahok said the city administration would not give any legal assistance to officials implicated in the case.

He said he was still waiting for the results of the ongoing investigation carried out by the City inspectorate.

Governor Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo said he had yet to receive the city inspectorate'€™s report because it was still working under the supervision of the Development and Finance Surveillance Agency (BPKP).
