he Witness and Victims Protection Agency (LPSK)has announced it is providing psychological assistance to the family of a student who was allegedly repeatedly raped by a group of men, including police officers inGorontalo.
'We are providing psychological assistance not only to the victim but also to her family because they were also deeply affected by this case,' the LPSK's Lili Pintauli Siregar said on Wednesday.
She also urged the Gorontalo Police to gather new evidence in order that due process could be immediately initiated against the accused.
'We haven't heard any follow up regarding these men. We are more than ready to assist the police in finding new evidence, if necessary,' Lili said.
So far, only five of the total 13 men reported to police by the victim have been taken to court.
Lili said the victim's psychological condition was still fragile, adding that she had fainted upon arriving home after attending the first trial hearing at Limboto District Court.
The victim's father recognized that his daughter was still traumatized and said she often complained of stomach pains.
He said he had not allowed her to return to school for fear that she may be too traumatized or humiliated. (idb/dic)
