he Padang General Elections Commission (KPUD) has begun distributing ballot cards to village areas for the second round of the mayoral election.
'The distribution is slated to be completed on March 3,' head of KPUD logistics division Firsta said on Saturday as quoted by Antara news agency.
He said the first phase of the distribution would cover the outskirts of Padang, areas like Bungus, Teluk Kabung and Koto Tangah districts. The ballot distribution will be jointly supervised by the KPUD and the local police.
The KPUD had prepared 574,742 ballots for the election scheduled for March 5. Two pairs of candidates, the Mahyedi-Emzalmi ticket supported by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the United Development Party (PPP) and the Desri Ayunda-James Helyward ticket, which does not have party backing.
As many as 560,723 voters are expected to vote in 1,532 polling stations throughout the city. (tjs/dic)
