General Election preparations in West Jakarta are being carried out in tight competition with time
eneralElection preparations in West Jakarta are being carried out in tight competition with time. It was reported that the sorting ofballots and ballot boxes in Kalideres district were on track and ready to bedistributed.
'The logistics are being kept here [Kalideres district office)]and they are for three subdistricts, Kamal, Tegal Alur and Kalideres,' said head of the Kalideres District Polling Committee (PPK), Arif Rachman.
Arif rest assured that the office would keep the logistics safe.
However, he also complained as the office had to often use its own funds to ensure the safety of the logistics.
"We don't know what is taking so long for operational funds to be disbursed," he said.
He also said that operational funds for his division had shrunk from around Rp 600,000 (US$ 51.06) to Rp 200,000.
Kalideres has one of the largest voters-to-polling station (TPS) ratios in Jakarta, with Semanan subdistrict's 56,311 eligible voters spread among 124 polling stations, or averaging 454 people per polling station.
'But the 2.5 percent addition of ballot cards to each ballot box at each polling station more than makes up for the risks involved,' said Kalideres PPK Logistics head Syaiful Bachri.
West Jakarta is one of the most populated regencies in Jakarta, with 1,641,089 eligible voters residing there, or nearly a quarter of Jakarta's total voters, according to the latest official voter list (DPT).
Indonesia has 186,569,233 eligible voters, most of whom reside outside the big cities. (tjs/dic)
