he Constitutional Court has granted former CorruptionEradication Commission (KPK) chairman and murder convict Antasari Azhar'srequest for a second case review. The court agreed that a case review could befiled for more than once over justice reason.
'There is no other word but Alhamdulilah [thank God],' Antasari said on Thursday as quoted by Kompas.com.
Antasari's case review request had been rejected by the Supreme Court last year on the grounds that a case review could only be filed once, as stipulated by the Criminal Code Procedure (KUHAP). Antasari then successfully turned to the Constitutional Court to challenge the KUHAP.
He said he would file another case review based on new evidence that would show the verdict in his case was wrong and other evidence that proved inaccuracies in the panel of judges' deliberation.
Antasari was sentenced to 18 years in prison for masterminding the murder of Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, former director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran. He had filed every legal appeal possible, including filing unsuccessfully for a Supreme Court review.(dic)
