n financing their campaigns, political parties can accept donations from individuals, groups and companies.

Law No. 8/2012 on elections sets the limit for individual donations at Rp 1 billion (US$87,096) and for group or company donations to Rp 7.5 billion. The amount of campaign donations in this year'€™s general election is higher than in the 2009 election.

Since the 1999 election, the government has regulated the amount of campaign donations in an effort to make political parties more accountable to voters.

For this year'€™s general election, the KPU is allowing political parties to accept donations until April 5.

Political parties should submit their final campaign finance reports to the KPU by April 24. '€“ Petrus Kristamtomo
