A teenager died and two others were injured after a gang assaulted them in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Mia Nuraini, a 16-year-old junior high school student, reportedly died at the hands of a former boyfriend, a member of the gang.
Cilandak Police chief Comr. Sungkono said the police arrested six of the eight-member gang. Four of the six were male and identified only as AHG, NP,IR, and C while two girls were identified as PA and YH. The police are hunting down two others, identified as A and AR. All eight have been declared suspects.
He said the assault was in retaliation to an incident involving Mia's current boyfriend, Sony, who had hit a member of the gang with his motorcycle.
Sungkono explained that the gang, members of which were riding motorcycles, had forced the victims on their motorcycles to the side of the road in Terogong, Cilandak, and, then, launched the attack using wooden sticks, motorcycle gears and a golf stick.
