The Indonesian Ulema Council'€™s (MUI) Bogor Regency chapter has announced the dismissal of one of its caretakers, identified only as SS, over his alleged involvement in a sex tape that went viral on Internet.

'€œThe MUI has decided to dismiss SS and is holding him responsible for his deeds,'€ MUI Bogor regency chief Ahmad Mukri Adji said on Thursday.

Your comments:

I don'€™t know how anybody becomes a member of the MUI or an imam but this is good. Once membership is revoked, that person is automatically removed from the MUI and from public office.

I also think that all religious leaders should be licensed by the MUI and endorsed by the Religious Affairs Ministry with the same conditions being applied.

If a license has been revoked, that person can no longer preach or hold public office. In cases involving corruption and/or sex scandals, their pictures should go public if and when they are convicted.

This will prevent deviant practices and teachings becoming prevalent and harming the social fabric of the nation.

The ministry should actually do some work for a living, not just devise ways of milking the ministry dry via corruption.

Not many other countries have such a ministry and here we have a chance to set an example of how such a ministry should act.
