em>Your comments on the official appointment of Jakarta Governor Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) as its presidential candidate '€” a move that is believed will help the party'€™s performance in the legislative election:

The official appointment of Jokowi as the PDI-P'€™s presidential candidate will not only strengthen the party'€™s performance in the legislative election but will also catapult it to power.

However, Jokowi and the PDI-P are vulnerable to the moves of other parties in conjunction with him breaking his promise to build Jakarta and Megawati'€™s abortive agreement to appoint Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate.

With this in mind, the PDI-P must concentrate on developing a tactic to deal with the issue, for the other parties will find no other weaknesses in Jokowi and the party.

More importantly, Jokowi'€™s running mate should be like his deputy, Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama, who is also a man of action.

I'€™ve liked Jokowi'€™s performance so far, but if he really wants to raise the bar I'€™ll say that he
should finish his governorship period first.

Running as a presidential candidate when he'€™s still governor could rub some people the wrong way.

I was delighted when I first heard the news and I hope there will be no political game involved in choosing Jokowi'€™s running mate.

I hope our perception of Jokowi as a clean and transparent leader remains forever.

At first I was against Jokowi running for president. I felt he was needed in Jakarta to finish his term. Now I have rethought the matter and feel that with Ahok taking over, Jakarta will continue on the road it is trying to travel.

I don'€™t know about the will of history but I do know it looks to be the will of the people who want to turn a corner with a more honest and forward-thinking political system.

I love Jokowi as governor, as he pumps optimism into the citizens of Jakarta.

If he becomes president, it will be the second time that he will leave a post mid-term, having stepped down as Surakarta mayor to become Jakarta governor.

I think he should finish his job in Jakarta first to realize the vision for a better capital. He needs to prove that he can resolve the city'€™s traffic congestion and annual flooding, as he promised.
