he General ElectionsCommission (KPU) announced that it had found approximately 1.5 million damaged ballotsacross the country. The KPU said that it would ask the printing companies toreplace them immediately.
'Exactly 1,537,160 ballots, mostly at the regency/city level need to be replaced,' KPU commissioner Arief Budiman was quoted as saying by kompas.com on Friday.
Arief said the KPU had learned about the damaged ballots after they were distributed. He also encouraged all Regional General Elections Commissions (KPUD) to report any more findings of damaged ballots before March 26.
Besides the damaged ballots, the KPU is also expecting updates on election logistics. Up until now, 20 percent out of 497 regencies/municipalities have reported logistics shortages to the KPU.(put/dic)
