Emerging fashion designer Patrick Owen is building his career in the world of Indonesian fashion by setting up his line, Patrick Owen.

It is a ready-to-wear label for women that offers bold prints, hand-stitched embellishments and embroidery in a definition of romanticism and sophistication.

He loves to infuse biblical content into his drawings. He also prefers to express his feelings in his designs in order to make his audience understand his experience while making the drawings.

Patrick, who showcased his work in the recent 2014 Jakarta Fashion Week, is currently preparing 15 looks for his Fall/Winter 2014 collection for a show in Senayan City'€™s Fashion Nation event in Jakarta in late March.

As a hip and up-to-date creative person, Patrick, who has law and business degrees, admits he relies on his gadgets to stay connected and is an avid fan of Apple products, both for work and socializing.

The autodidact designer finds that Apple'€™s MacBook Pro, iPhone 5S and iPad have helped him in organizing his daily life.

MacBook Pro

I apply two methods of designing: manually and digitally. For sketching, I love to hold a pencil and draw the design on a piece of paper to capture the moment when my inspiration flows. But then again, technology is here to ease our lives so I make the best of technology in making my designs perfect.

On my MacBook Pro, I usually use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop for coloring in my designs. So, I usually scan my manual drawings first before doing more Photoshop work. Photoshop gives the best results in coloring. As I produce digital printing on my products, I also do a lot of Adobe Illustrator work.

iPhone

Apart from basic communication purposes, I use my iPhone on a daily basis, especially in accessing Instagram. I cannot stop myself from logging into Instagram '€” it'€™s the first thing I do when I wake up. The picture application is just perfect for me to express myself as well as to find inspiration for my sketches.

iPad

I don'€™t really play games. Instead, I use my iPad to access Path and other social media applications. The iPhone and iPad are two gadgets that you can always find in my bag.
