Police accused of murdering man in E. Java

A

resident of Benculuk Kulon hamlet in Kejayan district, Pasuruan, East Java, identified as Achmad Khusaeni, was detained and taken from his home by a group of 15 people who claimed to be from the Pasuruan Police one evening, and was sent home dead from a gunshot wound the next day.

"My husband was accused of masterminding a robbery in the neighboring village. He was detained by 15 police officers in casual clothes. Less than 24 hours later he was returned home dead," Achmad's wife, Su'udah, said in Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Su'udah reported the case to the National Police at its headquarters in Jakarta, after the Pasuruan Police had made no response to a report she filed with them.

The officers came to Khusaeni's home at around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2014, and didn't present an arrest warrant, Su'udah said. She went on to say that they beat her husband and forced him into their car.

"One of the men said, 'Look at  my face. Please sue me, I'm not afraid.'  I was not alone during the arrest. There were other witnesses," Su'udah said.

"The next day before dusk, the police sent my husband home by an ambulance from the  Bhayangkara Hospital, but he was dead."

According to Su'udah, who showed a photo of her husband's corpse, Khusaeni was fatally shot in the back.

"His leg was also shot. His face was black and blue," Su'udah said.

The victim worked in the village administration and as a security guard.(atw)
