US-based social media giant Facebook Inc plans to set up a data center in Indonesia
US-based social media giant Facebook Inc plans to set up a data center in Indonesia.
Facebook representatives have already met with officials at the Communications and Information Ministry to realize the project.
Minister Tifatul Sembiring said that the government and Facebook had agreed on a number of deals and one of them was about content data.
"They have agreed that content which violates the law will not be included," Tifatul said in Jakarta on Monday as quoted by Kontan.co.id.
He added that some agreements would be set forth in written form. "A team is currently working to compile the agreements," the minister said.
Facebook last week announced the opening of its branch office in Jakarta. Indonesia is the fourth-largest market for the company with around 65 million users.
'Setting up an office here will allow us to work closer with some of the biggest advertisers, the advertising agencies and SMEs that need an education on how to market their products,' Facebook Asia Pacific vice president Dan Neary said in Jakarta.
Facebook's Jakarta office is located at the Pacific Place building in Sudirman Central Business District, South Jakarta. (nfo)
