n NGO that focuses on the welfare of Indonesian workers abroad, Migrant Care, said that overseas ballots were prone to manipulation. Migrant Care coordinator Syaiful Anas said the assessment was based on the experience of the 2009 election.
'The ballots will be left in the box in a warehouse for a few days before they get collected. The lack of supervision could be easily exploited,' he said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said last year there was ballot box in which every ballot was cast for the same candidate.
This year a total of 2,024,066 people registered as voters overseas. Polling stations abroad will open from March 30 until April 6.
They are expected to cast their votes in this year's legislative election. Worldwide, polling stations will be open for voters abroad between March 30 and April 6, prior to the scheduled national Election Day on April 9.(idb/dic)
