tate-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan said he was optimistic that a new toll road could be built that would stretch out across the Java Sea, linkingbusiness regions along the north coast. He also said that state-run companies had the financial capacity to bankroll the megaproject.
He said it would cost around Rp 50 trillion (US$4.4 billion) in investment
to connect Semarang in Central Java and Surabaya in East Java, the first phase
of the project.
"The project will integrate industrial zones from Semarang to Surabaya. We don't have any problem with financing this project," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said the toll road would be 300 kilometers long and would pass East Java's industrial areas, Tuban, Lamongan and Gresik.(nfo)
