n a face-to-face meeting on Tuesday, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono lauded Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo for the completion of the construction of a hospital at Cakung industrial estate in North Jakarta.
'This is nice. Good on you, Pak Jokowi, I like it,' the President told Jokowi during a field inspection after opening the hospital.
Jokowi did not respond verbally but looked at the President, nodded, then smiled.
The governor, who is the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle's (PDI-P) presidential candidate, accompanied the President on an inspection of the hospital's emergency room, radiology room and patient emergency unit.
The two engaged in an intensive chat during the tour.
Yudhoyono made a public statement on Jokowi on Monday, in which he said to the national media that many were skeptical about Jokowi's competence in leading the nation.
During the ceremony, the President did not mention Jokowi specifically but said many more hospitals were expected to be built in other industrial zones in other provinces to help improve the social welfare of workers.
'On behalf of the state and the government, and as an individual, I thank [you] and give [my] highest appreciation to those with the industrial estate,' he explained in his speech.
'I also appreciate State-Owned Enterprises Minister [Dahlan Iskan] and his team for taking real steps to build the hospital, and of course also to Health Minister [Nafsiah Mboi], to Manpower and Transmigration Minister [Muhaimin Iskandar] and to all parties involved.'
The President said many industrial estates in other provinces were waiting for the construction of hospitals to serve workers and their families.
'The hospital in Cakung is the first special hospital for workers in the country. I hope many more hospitals will be built in other industrial estates,' Yudhoyono said.
The President added there were still some issues to sort out, including the implementation of national health insurance (JKN) and four occupational social security programs.
Cakung industrial estate president director M. Sattar Taba said the hospital's construction was the realization of the President's instruction to provide more hospitals, low-cost apartments and buses in industrial estates. (dyl)
