ndonesian shuttler Simon Santoso, who began his title bid in the qualifying round, continued his winning form on Saturday to advance to the finals of the Singapore Open Super Series.
He fought back from a game down to wrap up a 16-21, 21-17, 21-17 semifinal win over fifth seed Du Pengyu of China.
'My opponent fought hard and was stubborn. I had to be patient to win the match. It's important not to fall into a rash of unforced errors,' Simon said in a press release.
He is now only one step away from winning his second title in just a couple of weeks, after winning the Malaysian Open Gold Grand Prix.
Simon will meet world number one, Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei, who defeated Srikanth K. of India 21-19, 21-18. The result of the final match aside, the Malaysia and Singapore tour appears to mark Simon's revival from a run of poor form, which had cost him a place in the national team.
Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir and Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili will make it an all-Indonesia final on Sunday.
