Text your say: The Jokowi and Rhoma effects

em>Your comments on the analysis that the '€œJokowi effect'€ had little impact on the recent legislative election, even less so than the '€œRhoma Irama effect'€:

If either of the two names mentioned are nominated as a presidential candidate, I'€™d rather not vote that day.

Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo lacks credibility. Meanwhile, for Rhoma, I fear he would emulate or probably beat President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono'€™s accomplishments from his 10 year tenure.

The Jokowi effect in certain cases worked, even if it was not significant, but the Rhoma effect didn'€™t.

The achievement of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the legislative election was mostly influenced by the need for harmonious relations between the PKB and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) voters.

Jokowi has no idea how to solve the day-long traffic jams, nor the issue of bad traffic management and the solution.

He lacks leadership and communication skills. None of his subordinates do what they are told and ignore him.

There is no '€œJokowi effect'€ or '€œRhoma effect'€. Indonesians are now able to think more wisely, critically and maturely, based on previous bad experience of making false decisions (during a whole 10 years they threw massive support behind a chairman of a big corrupt party).

I once talked with neighbors in my area, and they shared the opinion that casting a vote in a legislative election is way different from picking a president.

Mostly they will vote for a future president who keeps a clean sheet in terms of leadership capacity and integrity.

They look up to a better and rational national program proposed by an exemplary candidate.

Let'€™s celebrate the diversity of Indonesia, when most party flags are now waving at their respective spots in the House of Representatives. We have witnessed the peaceful weeks of campaign rallies, voting day and ballot counting afterward.

That highlights the maturity and victory of Indonesian democracy, in keeping unity in the midst of diversity.

Indonesia is praised by other countries in the world for its exemplary level of democratic achievement.
