onstruction of the third runway at the busy Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will be completed around 2016, according to state-run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II.
The runway, which is intended to ease air traffic congestion, will be able to accommodate the movement of an additional 100 aircraft per hour.
'Currently, we are waiting for the master plan to be approved,' said AP II corporate secretary Daryanto, as quoted by Kontan, adding that AP II would then discuss land acquisition with the local government.
The budget needed just to clear the land for the 3,660 meter-by-60 m runway is Rp 4 trillion (US$350 million), which has prompted AP II to turn to the government for financing.
