Two Javan lutung moved to East Java

T

he Aspinall Foundation transferred two Javan lutung, or langurs, from the Java Primate Rehabilitation Center in Ciwidey, Bandung regency, West Java to the Javan Langur Center in Batu, East Java, on Wednesday.

The move was aimed at releasing the endangered species into the wild, in this case, to the Raden Suryo protected forest, said the executive director of the Aspinall Foundation Indonesia, Made Wedana.

Wedana hoped that the two langurs '€” named Utung, 2, and Onet, 2.5 '€” could adapt to their new habitat.

'€œSo far, there are 15 langurs there [at the Javan Langur Center]. We will release two more langurs in May,'€ Made said, adding that the Javan Langun Center released 13 Javan lutung monkeys into the wild in 2013.
