ship carrying a group of pilgrims in a Good Friday sea procession capsized in Gonzalu strait in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara on Friday killing seven.
The fatalities consisted of three children and four adults.
Deputy regent of East Flores, Valens Tukan, said 30 people had been rescued by the police after the accident and were now receiving medical treatment.
He added that the police were still searching for other victims, Antara news agency reported.
The Good Friday sea procession in East Nusa Tenggara has been held for 500 years.
The tradition involves dozens of boats and the bringing of Tuan Meninu (a statue of baby Jesus) from Rewindo beach to Larantuka, the seat of East Flores regency. (put/nvn)
