Several programs have been scheduled to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung, West Java.

The organizing committee has been cooperating with several communities to revive the historical spirit of the conference, which was held in 1955.

'€œThere are 700 volunteers who are taking part in a number of programs. It proves that there are still many young people out there who care about our nation,'€ said organizing committee chairman Thomas Adrian Siregar on Thursday.

The celebration, which was opened on Thursday by West Java Deputy Governor Deddy Mizwar and attended by a few ambassadors for Indonesia, will run until April 24 at the Asia-Africa Museum in Cikapundung Timur.

The public is being encouraged to participate in the Bandung Historical Study Games on Saturday. Next Wednesday will see the launch of a book titled Pernak-Pernik Konferensi Asia Afrika 1955 (Trinkets from the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference), and a performance by Indonesian reggae singer Ras Muhammad.
