Several programs have been scheduled to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung, West Java.
The organizing committee has been cooperating with several communities to revive the historical spirit of the conference, which was held in 1955.
'There are 700 volunteers who are taking part in a number of programs. It proves that there are still many young people out there who care about our nation,' said organizing committee chairman Thomas Adrian Siregar on Thursday.
The celebration, which was opened on Thursday by West Java Deputy Governor Deddy Mizwar and attended by a few ambassadors for Indonesia, will run until April 24 at the Asia-Africa Museum in Cikapundung Timur.
The public is being encouraged to participate in the Bandung Historical Study Games on Saturday. Next Wednesday will see the launch of a book titled Pernak-Pernik Konferensi Asia Afrika 1955 (Trinkets from the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference), and a performance by Indonesian reggae singer Ras Muhammad.
