KCJ launches machines for e-money users

J

akarta electric train operator PT Kereta Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), in cooperation with three cell phone operators, launched electronic money (e-money) machines for passengers to top up their multi-trip tickets.

KCJ commercial director Makmur Syaheran said during the launch at Sudirman Station in Central Jakarta on Thursday that the commuters, who had activated their e-money from three cellular operators '€” PT XL Axiata (XL), PT Indosat and PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) '€” could now use the machines to reload their multi-trip tickets.

'€œWith the machine, reloading is as easy as topping up your cell phone credit,'€ he said.

Makmur said passengers must activate the e-money on their cell phones and follow the instructions, including registering the 16 digit number on the multi-trip card.

'€œThe passengers then need only insert the card into the machine to transfer the money on to the card,'€ he said.

The machines are currently only available at three stations '€” Sudirman, Kota in West Jakarta and Bogor in West Java.

Makmur said, however, that the company would cooperate with more operators and install machines across its 66 stations.

KCJ recorded that 55 percent of its 600,000 daily passengers used the multi-trip e-ticketing cards.

Users of Bank Central Asia'€™s (BCA) e-money facility, the Flazz card, can also use their card to pay for their trips.
