Graft convict and former Democratic Party treasurer M
raft convict and former Democratic Party treasurer M. Nazaruddin reportedly got into a scuffle with fellow inmates at the Sukamiskin penitentiary in Bandung, West Java.
According to sources within the prison quoted by tempo.co, Nazaruddin started the scrap after Friday prayer last week.
'It's his own fault. He caused a commotion and people were upset,' a prison guard told the online magazine.
Sukamiskin warden Giri Purbadi said he heard reports that Nazaruddin often got into fights with other inmates.
The Jakarta Corruption Court had sentenced Nazaruddin to four years and 10 months in prison for accepting Rp 4.6 billion (US$402,668) in the rigged construction of the SEA Games athletes village in South Sumatra.
Last year, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Nazaruddin and lengthened his prison sentence to a total seven years.
The Supreme Court also increased a fine Nazaruddin has to pay from Rp 200 million to Rp 300 million.
