AKARTA: A recent survey from the global financial institution HSBC has revealed that 93 percent of individual workers in Indonesia think that planning for their future retirement is very important.
However, many respondents said that they did not have adequate financial capacity to fulfill their retirement target.
'Respondents in the survey estimated that the whole savings they would make during their productive period would be completely spent on supporting their life as a retired worker,' said Steven Suryana, senior vice president and head of wealth management at HSBC Indonesia.
He added that with a good retirement plan, they could maintain their quality of life by not only securing their daily necessities, such as food and clothing, but also other things like vacations or investment.
'A retirement plan can also eliminate the possibility of handing down debts to our children.'
