The Rupiah traded interbanks in Jakarta on Monday morning slightly strengthened to 11,420 per US dollar, from 11,423.
Trust Securities head of research Reza Priyambada said that the rupiah strengthen after the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) projected deflation in April 2014.
"The news regarding deflation projection in April saw a positive market response, thus, improving the rupiah," Reza said in Jakarta on Monday as quoted by Antara state news agency.
He also said that the positive sentiment from the market was supported by the Finance Ministry's plan to provide local fiscal incentives in a bid to spur the manufacturing industry.
"The government needs to maintain the country's economic recovery momentum," he said. (nfo)
