A female junior high school student has been allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by 10 men in Lima Puluh Kota regency, West Sumatra.
Nora Fitri of the West Sumatra Child Protection Institute revealed the victim had been held in captivity and raped by the men for four days before she was found on Friday.
'Ironically, the police cleaned the crime scene, burned the evidence, such as a bed, and offered a peaceful settlement to the family of the victim,' Nora was quoted as saying by tribunnews.com on Friday.
The victim is currently being treated at a mental hospital.
Meanwhile, police denied on Sunday that they had destroyed evidence.
'The police did not eliminate the evidence. We saved it, such as clothes, the suspect's motorcycle and a bed,' Lima Puluh Kota police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Cucuk Trihono was quoted as saying by Antara news agency in Padang.
