Musician Anang Hermansyah looks like he's secured a seat in the House of Representatives for its next legislative section.
'Praise the Lord, we're very happy to hear the results from the [local] KPU [General Elections Commission],' Anang's older brother, Burhansyah, said as quoted by tempo.co.
Burhansyah said that he delivered the news to Anang, who was in Singapore when the KPU announced the results of the legislative election.
Anang and his wife, singer Ashanty, planned to visit voters in Jember and Lumajang, East Java, to celebrate, said Burhansyah.
'Representing Anang and his family, I humbly thank everyone for the support. We all hope that Anang can be a trusted representative,' he added.
According to the KPU, Anang, backed by the National Mandate Party (PAN) collected 37,439 votes in Jember regency, clearing the way for the party to install him in the House seat.
