Presiding judge Matheus Samiadji said the panel had proven the defendant guilty of bribery charges.
'He has convincingly violated the anti-corruption law and tainted the government's efforts to eradicate corruption,' he said as quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday.
Matheus also mentioned that there had been dissenting opinions in Deviardi's case.
Deviardi was accused of channeling bribe money from various parties for Rudi Rubiandini. For example, he channeled sums of US$900,000 and $200,000 from Kernel Oil Private Limited's Widodo Rathanachaitong to Rudi, and was also proven to have channeled bribe money to and from Rudi on other occasions.
Furthermore, Deviardi was proven guilty of laundering money by purchasing cars and other luxury goods.
However, the sentence was lighter than the five years originally requested by prosecutors.
After the trial, Deviardi said he accepted the ruling. Prosecutors, however, acknowledged that they would need to consult with their senior officers before commenting on the sentence. (dic)
