Your comments on a statement made by chairman of the Democratic Party and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who said his party was ready to become a party of opposition if it failed to form a coalition with other parties to nominate a presidential candidate:I think it is better for the Democratic Party to become an opposition party but with the sincere intention to become a sparring partner of the new government for the sake of the country

I think it is better for the Democratic Party to become an opposition party but with the sincere intention to become a sparring partner of the new government for the sake of the country.

The Democratic Party could play a role similar to what the Petisi 50 did during the New Order.

The main reason in seeking a merger is to '€œstay alive'€ and you need the added points to do that!

No party leader will accept that his or her party is in a coma, or prepare the obituary for their own political organization.

The only option, a coalition with certain '€œfriends'€, will shatter the Democrats.

Yudhoyono talks about opposition but throughout his presidency he hasn'€™t opposed anything.
