Andrea Hirata says that his best-selling novel Laskar Pelangi (The Rainbow Troops) has just been published in Arabic.

It'€™s the 19th translation of Andrea'€™s book, which tells the tale of children who fight to finish school in a humble village on remote Belitung Island.

The author, in the United Arab Emirates for the launch of the book at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair last week, read from his work at the Sea of Culture, a private reading forum, to an audience that included members of the royal family of Abu Dhabi.

Andrea is slated to release his latest novel, Ayah (Father) in coming months. The book, his second to be released internationally, will be published in English with the title The Lonely Song of the River.

'€œAs you know, the second novel to be published on the international stage is in many ways more difficult than the first one because expectations are high,'€ Andrea said.
