"We are now in the process of stabilizing the supply and price of beef,"Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said that the country was currently suffering a shortage of beef, so it planned to import more supplies in the near future.
"We are hoping that the price will not exceed the prices we have today," he said, adding that current prices are between Rp 90,000 (US$7.83) and Rp 95,000 per kilogram.
The ministry was optimistic that prices would decrease to between Rp 80,000 and Rp 85,000 after Idul Fitri celebrations. (nfo)
