'Don't forget to vote for Jokowi-Kalla on July 9,' Sri said to a crowd of people while handing out Jokowi-Kalla stickers and brochures about the candidate pair's programs at the traditional Gatak Market in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Thursday.
Also in Bantul, thousands of Jokowi-Kalla supporters held a cultural parade (kirab budaya), which included local and traditional attractions, such as a bamboo horse dance (jathilan) and decorated horse-drawn carriages (andong).
'We want to make a supportive campaign through this cultural parade,' Jokowi-Kalla campaign member Basuki Rahmat said.
Separately, the chairman of the National Mandate Party's (PAN) advisory board, Amien Rais, gave a speech in front of thousands of participants at a religious gathering held at the Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University on Wednesday evening.
'Prabowo-Hatta is the best candidate pair who can uphold the mandate to protect our country's richness of natural resources for the benefit of its citizens,' he said while also calling on people to pray for Prabowo-Hatta's victory before breaking their fasts during Ramadhan, which commences on June 29.
The presidential campaign period runs from June 14 through July 5, which will be followed by a cooling-off period, during which all forms of campaigning are banned until the election on July 9. (gda/dic)
