City Police highway traffic patrol chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Jazari said the firemen injured in the crash were being treated at Atmajaya Hospital in Pluit.
Fireman Sasmita and truck driver Sunarko remain in a critical condition, while two others only suffered minor injuries, North Jakarta Fire and Natural Disaster Agency operation section head, Muchtar Zakaria, confirmed.
The impact of the crash had sent fire trucks careening through the toll road's central median, followed by a Volvo sedan and a Pajero jeep, which were driving in the same direction.
Penjaringan Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Kusbiantoro said the cause of the fire the trucks were headed for was still under investigation.
'Residents fought the flames before a number of fire trucks arrived,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
No fatalities were reported in the incident but hundreds of families lost their homes. The North Jakarta Social Affairs Agency distributed instant noodles, rice and blankets to those displaced by the fire.
