ice presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla, who is running for office alongside Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo, accompanied by his wife Mufidah Kalla will spend the two campaign '€œcooling-off'€ days, in his home town of Makassar, South Sulawesi.

'€œI am planning to meet relatives and friends, we will be breaking the fast together,'€ he said as quoted by tribunnews.com before he left for Makassar from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta on Monday.

The former Golkar Party chairman also said that he was planning to observe the election preparations in his hometown, but denied he was only doing it to see how well his ticket performed in the city.

'€œI believe that votes for the Jokowi-Kalla ticket in Makassar will be quite significant. However, I always return to my hometown before elections, regardless,'€ he said.

Meanwhile, Jokowi is currently on a minor haj (umrah) in Saudi Arabia with his family before returning to Indonesia on July 8.

As the campaign period ended on July 5, candidate pairs and their campaign teams are obliged to observe the '€œcooling-off'€ period, which restricts any kind of campaign, from July 6 to 8.

Jokowi and his running mate Jusuf Kalla, awarded the official number two on the ballots, are supported by a coalition led by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) that includes the Nation'€™s Awakening Party (PKB), the Hanura Party and the NasDem Party. The coalition secured 207 or 39.97 percent of the 560 seats at the House of Representatives. (gda)
