Vice presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla brought his family members, including his wife and grandchildren, to the polling station next to his house in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

"I bring my grandchildren to educate them about the process as they are the voters of the future," Kalla said after casting his vote at the polling station, accompanied by his wife Muffida.

None of Kalla's grandchildren are eligible voters, but they looked excited entering the polling station with Kalla, who served as vice president to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during 2004-2009.

The grandchildren, 10 in total, were also accompanied by their parents. Kalla has five sons and one daughter in total.

All of Kalla's grandchildren, sons and daughters appeared in checkered shirts - popularly known as "kotak-kotak" - which have been popularized by Kalla's running mate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, while Kalla wore batik along with his wife.

When leaving the polling station, Kalla and his entourage gave a victory salute to reporters, referring to his candidate number, which is "2".

Kalla said he expected a big victory of 80 percent at his polling station, while nationally his expectation was around a 60 percent return.

"That's our hope," Kalla said before leaving for the house of Megawati Soekarnoputri, the chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the party that endorsed Jokowi and Kalla.

Kalla will meet Megawati, Jokowi and other national campaign team members at Megawati's private house in Kebagusan in South Jakarta to hold a meeting on the upcoming quick count results.

As many as 190 million eligible voters are expected to vote in Wednesday's election.
