South Korean robbed by taxi driver

A South Korean national, identified as Dong Won Lee, 42, was robbed by a taxi driver on Saturday at 1 a.m., the police said on Saturday.

'€œThe victim flagged down a taxi at Pacific Place [South Jakarta],'€ Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

The driver robbed the victim of his smartphone, a notebook computer and Rp 26 million (US$21,600) near the Nestle building on Jl. TB Simatupang in South Jakarta, Rikwanto went on.

At the crime scene, the driver was assisted by his two friends. The three of them dragged the victim out of the taxi but Dong struggled and managed to snatch the driver'€™s vehicle registration certificate (STNK).

Rikwanto said the owner of the car with plate number B 1162 WY was PT Merlin Taksi.

The driver and his accomplices fled the scene, he said.
