Ministry distributes maps for tourists

T

he Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry has begun distributing maps of tourism sights in anticipation of a surge in the number of travelers during the Idul Fitri holiday.

'€œWe will distribute the maps one week before the Idul Fitri holiday,'€ said Ratna Suranti, the director for promotional affairs at the ministry.

The ministry earlier commissioned private and state-owned printers to print the maps.

Ratna said that more than 50,000 maps would be distributed to people at toll gates, bus terminals, airports, seaports and shopping malls.

She said the maps were user friendly and also contained information on hotels, recreation centers, restaurants and tourism packages.

About 27.9 million people are expected to travel to their hometowns to celebrate Idul Fitri, which marks the end of Ramadhan, up 7 percent from last year.
