Hatta asks for peaceful end to standoff

V

ice presidential candidate Hatta Rajasa said on Friday that the dispute over the presidential election results must be resolved peacefully.

"I believe that no matter the differences of our perception of the General Elections Commission [KPU] results, it must be resolved peacefully and in line with prevailing laws," he said on his Twitter account @hattarajasa.

Hatta explained that the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta ticket intended to file a lawsuit against the KPU'€™s election results with the Constitutional Court because they believed the court would issue a ruling based on truth and justice.

Furthermore, he asked that everyone respect the court's final decision and unite in order to create a better country.

"I believe that by seeking a legal resolution to every problem, it can be a political lesson for the future," he said.

The Prabowo-Hatta ticket plans to file a lawsuit at the Constitutional Court at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Prabowo publicly rejected the election results on Tuesday before the KPU officially announced them. (fss)
