resident-elect and Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo isscheduled to spend the first day of Idul Fitri in Jakarta, where he willconduct an Idul Fitri prayer event and also hold an open house at City Hall.
Head of the mental and spiritual education bureau, Budi Utomo, said that Jokowi would conduct prayers with the Jakarta apparatus working units, leaders of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) and nearby communities, according to kompas.com.
"Yes, the governor and his wife Ibu Iriana are scheduled to conduct the Idul Fitri prayer at City Hall this year," he said on Saturday.
The prayer will be held on the City Hall terrace, which can accommodate up to 700 people.
"Usually after the prayer, the governor and the administration's officials hold a Halal bi Halal [gathering] at the Balairung, City Hall. Last year he conducted one of his impromptu visits," Budi said.
Last year, Jokowi and his wife traveled around the capital city to visit several areas during the first day of Idul Fitri.(fss)
