Residents asked to leave relatives at home

J

akarta Deputy GovernorBasuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama asked residents not to bring relatives from theirhometowns back to the city after the Idul Fitri holiday.

Ahok told reporters at City Hall on Friday that he was worried about unemployed newcomers.

'€œIf you come to Jakarta with a job waiting for you, that'€™s fine. But if you come here with no plan, you will be a burden on the city administration and will end up living on riverbanks or along railway tracks,'€ he said as quoted by tempo.co, adding that the city administration would evict riverbank and railway squatters. Ahok said that the city administration would cooperate with railway operator PT KAI to evict railway track squatters.

After mudik (festive homecoming), many residents encourage relatives to move to Jakarta in search of employment.
